Gypsum Plaster Special Reinforcing Agent — Low Dosage, High Efficiency

I. Working Principle

Polyacrylamide acts as a dedicated reinforcing, flocculating and thickening agent for gypsum:

  1. Adsorbs on the surface of gypsum crystals to form a cross-linked network structure.
  2. Fills voids inside gypsum to improve compressive and flexural strength.
  3. Delays setting via water retention, reducing cracking, powdering and edge chipping.
  4. Optimizes the fluidity of gypsum slurry for smooth construction and uniform setting.

II. Applicable Models

  • Anionic Polyacrylamide: Molecular weight ranging from 8–12 million
  • Applicable materials: Building gypsum, gypsum plaster, joint filler, gypsum cornice, gypsum mould, phosphogypsum building materials

III. Core Functions

  1. Greatly enhance the strength and hardness of gypsum products.
  2. Lower water absorption and improve moisture resistance.
  3. Mitigate shrinkage cracks for smooth and durable finished products.
  4. Improve workability to prevent water separation and delamination.
  5. Effective with low addition dosage, delivering remarkable cost performance.

IV. Application Instructions

  1. Prepare a 0.2% aqueous solution with water and stir thoroughly until fully dissolved.
  2. Add the prepared solution together with mixing water during gypsum blending and stir evenly.
  3. Do not add the powder directly, as it will cause agglomeration.

V. Combined Formula

Polyacrylamide + Gypsum Retarder + Water Reducer = High-strength crack-resistant gypsum system

VI. Advantages & Disadvantages

✅ Advantages: Excellent reinforcing effect, low mixing dosage, good compatibility, eco-friendly and odorless.

❌ Disadvantages: Excessive dosage may lead to mould sticking, prolonged setting time and sticky surface.

VII. Application Scenarios

  1. Interior wall gypsum plaster (general on-site construction)
  2. Gypsum cornices & gypsum artware (shaped products)
  3. Gypsum-based self-leveling compound (floor leveling)
  4. Building materials made from desulfurized gypsum & phosphogypsum (industrial mass production)
  5. Joint filler & repair gypsum (house renovation and repairing)

Comparative Performance

  • Without polyacrylamide: Fast setting, prone to cracking and powdering, brittle texture and fragile finished products.

With proper dosage of polyacrylamide: Easy construction, high strength, crack resistance, impact resistance and long service life.
